The Farm

The Tell Family moved to Windswept Farm in 1984 to reclaim some childhood memories from Europe.  Wilhelm and Alyce Tell bought their daughters, Laura and Linnet, 2 ponies.  Little did they know, from there, the 17 acre farm would metamorphazise into a training center for dressage horses and riders.

Renewable energy through solar energy and a water retention system allow us to respect the environment and maintain a working farm.  The farm is located just a mile and a half from the Sussex County Fairgrounds.

The Barn

Multiple buildings comprise the facility.  20 training stalls are housed within 3 barns so horses are not stressed while they are at rest.  All stalls are equipped with full mats, water lines, windows, yoked gates and individual fans in the summer.

Hot and cold wash stall, heated tack room and viewing lounge, complete with tv, dvd, vhs, complimentary fridge, microwave and kettle.  Each stall includes a 10 foot space for tack trunks and storage.  A separate barn holds our years hay supply, ensuring better air quality and safety from fire for the horse.

Indoor Arena

Brand new footing in 2014, full sky panels allow natural light to create a soothing environment.  Full profile and gable mirrors to enhance your riding experience. Maintained dust free environment.

Outdoor Arena

Newly expanded outdoor arena with new footing as of 2014, easily accommodates a full dressage court and a separate warm up area.

Open design allows the rider to use the terrain for fitness work or unique jump schools.

Trail System

The farm fronts a 147 acre stateland property which connects us to the Paulinskill Trail System.  The Paulinskill Trail System is thousands of miles of old railways that have been bought by the state and transformed for recreational use. This allows us the ability to use cross training for your horse so he can reach his or her full potential.

Turn Out

Windswept Farm appreciates that the grazing animals health depends on movement, therefore turnout is a high priority at the farm.  Customized turnout is available to make sure every horses needs are being met.  Frost free waterlines run to every pasture.

Windswept Farm is committed to rotation, mowing, seeding, liming, harrowing and aerating all pastures.
